Tottenhamhave been handed a huge incentive to land Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie in the January transfer window. The USMNT international has been heavily linked with a switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium amid concerns over his future with the Bianconeri.

It comes as the Lilywhites could use some further additions to their squad heading into the latter half of the Premier League season. Despite their fast start to the campaign, pace has since dropped slightly as Spurs look to keep themselves in the frame for a top four finish.

Head coachAntonio Contehas already discussed the need for his side to be active in the market, claiming: To become a title contender, to become a team ready to fight to win something you need to have a solid foundation.

That means to have 14 or 15 strong players, quality and the other young players to develop. And [then] every season you can add two players but two players to invest 50m, 60m, 70m and in this way it means you are signing important players that improve quality and the level of your team but this is a process guys. Quality in depth is required and after the absences of Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma, as well as some difficulties in form for some, perhaps the midfield is an area to look next. One of those eyed is McKennie, who had an impressive World Cup with the USA.

According to Fabrizio Romano on theHouse of Champions, the Juventus star could be available for as little as €17million (15million) in the January window. Spurs would have to act quick though as Romano added: Weston McKennie could be one of the players to leave. There are conversations ongoing as you mentioned with Bournemouth, also with Aston Villa; there was a call a few days ago to explore the potential conditions of a deal.

It means the Lilywhites would have to move fast to ensure they beat their Premier League rivals to his signature while bagging a potential bargain.
